Mini Story – Part 2

A steaming mug of coffee appeared on my desk.

I looked up to see Charlie beaming down at me.

“You looked like you needed it.”

“Thanks Hun” I beamed back.

The smell of roasted aribica beans danced across my nostrils as I took a sip out of the chipped Forever Friend’s mug.

“You know me too well!”

And know me he did.

Two years ago, we shared a steamy kiss at the back of Tribe, during the monthly office social; where he got to know my mouth and other parts of my body.

Charlie had wanted me to go home with him. But I said no. The next day he brushed it off as being too merry on the Christmas spirit and we never spoke about it again.

“So are you coming then. You’re the only one who hasn’t rsvp’d yet. You know I need my best girl there”

Yep I’d been friend zoned.

“I don’t know, Becca (my sister) still hasn’t said if she’s coming back down or not”

“Bring her with me. You know she loves me!”

And love him she did. She had never forgiven me for not going home with him that night.

“You’ve been looser before why put on the chastity belt with Chazza” she had yelled at me.

I don’t know whether it was because she loved me and she knew how long I had been in love with him and just wanted me to take that leap or whether she had lost out on the prospect of him being a potential future brother in law (he spoilt her rotten and called her the baby sister he never had)?

“Did she get the care package I sent her?” he asked perching on the edge of my desk. His Paco Rabanne scent teasing me.

Flashbacks of the night we kissed danced around my head. The softness of his lips. The forcefulness as his mouth explored both my mouth and neck. The rough tickle of his stubble…

“Well did she?” He asked again snapping me out of my daze.

“Yeah and she really should have text you to say thank you”.

“It’s her first week of uni. She’s got more important things to think of then to send me a text Chez.”

“Whatever. You let her walk over you. You’re too soft”, I said rolling my eyes.

“Listen I’m gonna tell Gemma you’re coming. We might have to rearrange the tables but she’ll just have to like it or lump it. I need you there.”

“Fine I’ll come,” I said reluctantly.

I can’t wait to watch the man I’m in love with get married to someone else!
